JISNET Workshop and Task Force Meeting on Establishment of Monitoring Network of Tsunami Early Warning Systems in South East Asia

The Japan-Indonesia Seismic Network (JISNET) of NIED, jointly operated with BMKG (Meteorological, Climatological and Geophysical Agency of Indonesia) since 2001 will be
handed over from NIED to BMKG in March 2010.
We will hold a NIED-BMKG joint workshop in Bukittinggi, West Sumatra on November 17, 2009.
In this workshop, we review the history, current status, and research results of JISNET and discuss future cooperation betweenIndonesian andJapanese seismologists for earthquake and tsunami disaster mitigation of both countries.The workshop will be held between the Earthquake Precursor Symposium on November 16-17, and ASEAN Earthquake Information Center meeting on tsunami warning on November 19, both organized by BMKG, at the same venue, Hills Bukittinggi Hotel.
Excursion to damaged areas in Padang and Pariaman by the September 30, 2009 M7.5 West Sumatra Earthquake is scheduled on November 18.
