Research Center for Enhancing Metropolitan Resilience

To contribute to the improvement of resilience capability in the areas which are supposed to be struck by serious natural disasters remarked as Tokyo Inland Earthquake with its high probability of the occurrence within the next 30 years, NIED promote to construct the All Japan Joint Research Team in order to collect and maintain data that contributes to the practical usages including comprehensive business continuity, disaster response, personal disaster prevention behavior through integration of the public and private sectors.

In this Research Center for Enhancing Metropolitan Resilience, we will aim to collect and maintain data that contributes to the practical usages including comprehensive business continuity, disaster response, personal disaster prevention behavior, through organic integration of the public and private sectors by promotion of following three sub-projects and "The Council for Utilizing Public and Private Sectors Data Activity" called "DEKATSU" being the acronym in Japanese of the council mentioned above.

  • (a) Building a collaborative framework for data utilization that contributes to improving resilience comprehensive capability centering on the metropolitan area
  • (b) Collection and maintenance of ultra-high-density earthquake motion observation data by public-private partnership
  • (c) Data collection and maintenance concerning collapse margin of structures including non-structural members"
