Realtime earthquake information should be quickly and appropriately distributed to end users, in order to mitigate human and socioeconomic damage due to the earthquakes. Therefore, further development of communication methods, such as the Internet, satellite communication and mobile phones (including e-mail) is required. It is also necessary to research the responding actions after receiving the information such as automatic shutdown of production lines in factories, elevators and trains.
