H.E. Mr. HRASTIĆ, Ambassador of Croatia visited NIED on15 July
His Excellency Mr. Dražen HRASTIĆ, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia to Japan and Ms. Katarina KIRINIĆ, Counsellor visited NIED on 15 July.
Dr. Hayashi, President of NIED and Mr. Ando, Executive Vice President welcomed them and discussed their efforts to enhance disaster risk reduction (DRR) and disaster resilience, which was followed by presentations on DRR research and discussion by each center and division. H.E. Mr. HRASTIĆ and Ms. KIRINIĆ also had the opportunity to visit Large-scale Earthquake Simulator and Large-scale Rainfall Simulator.
NIED had organized the Japan-Croatia BBB Seminars with the Embassy of Japan in Croatia and Croatian Ministry of Physical Planning, Construction and State Assets in February and March. These seminars aimed at supporting Build Back Better (BBB) in Croatia where two earthquake disasters occurred last year. At the end of the visit on 15 July, both sides expressed their willingness to continue working together on DRR as their long-term collaboration.
