2025 Disaster Resilience Co-Creation Seminar

The ASEAN region and Japan, are located along the Pacific Ring of Fire and faces various disaster risks, including earthquakes, tsunamis, typhoons, and floods. In addition to its geographical proximity, the growing economic and human exchanges between Japan and ASEAN have made the region an increasingly important strategic partner for Japan. As both regions continue to deepen their cooperation and knowledge-sharing in disaster risk reduction (DRR) and management have become essential for the resilience building in both regions. With the continued economic development of ASEAN countries, Japan’s expertise and technology in DRR, once shared through traditional aid mechanisms, are now transforming into more collaborative efforts involving a diverse range of stakeholders, including government, private sector and universities/research institutions. In light of these developments, this workshop will explore the potential for industry-academia-government collaboration to enhance disaster resilience in the ASEAN region, while proposing new approaches to realizing these goals.
