2019.○○.○○○○○○○○○○○○○2022.2.28令和3年度成果発表会Fig.Hi-netandgaugingstationnetworksoverriverbasinsinJapan.TheNationalResearchInstituteforEarthScienceandDisasterResilience(NIED)deployedadenseandhigh-sensitivityseismographthatcoversseveralungaugedmountainousrivernetwork(Hi-net)basinsinJapanwiththestation-to-stationdistanceintervalofabout20km(Fig).DischargeobservationsnearexistingHi-netstationsareInthisresearch,anattempthasbeenmadetorarelyavailable.establishamethodforpredictingflowratesusingseismicnoisedatadistributedinmountainousriverbasinsinJapan.Asacasestudy,theMogamiRiverBasininNortheasternJapanwasselectedasatargetareatocomparetheseismicnoisedataoftwoHi-netstationswiththehydrologicalresponseofanearbyriver.Theresultsindicatedthatseismicnoisedatainthefrequencyrangeof1–2Hzexhibitedasimilartrendtothesimulateddischargevalues(P.C.andSawazaki,2021).Thisisaninterdisciplinaryresearchbetweenhydrologyandseismology.Hence,furtherresearchwillbecarriedoutinclosecollaborationwithDr.KaoruSawazakiofNIED.ProspectsTheproposedideaispromisingforriverdischargepredictioninbasinsfarfromhydrologicalstations.Accordingtothiscasestudy,seismicdatacanbeusedtoestimateriverdischargetime-seriesdata,particularlythesizeandtimingofpeakflooddisasterdischarge.Suchmonitoringiscrucialpreventionandmanagementduringheavyrainevents.forTheperformanceofthedischargepredictionmaydiffersonacase-by-casebasis.Hydrologicalsimulationsofseveralriverbasinsusingpastyearsdataandvalidationprocesswillbecontinued.Then,comparativeanalysiswillbeperformedbetweenthosesimulateddischargedataofandseismicnoisedatafromnearbystationstoriversestablishthesteadyrelationshipforriversofJapan.■Interdisciplinaryresearchbetweenhydrologyandseismology.■Establishmentofamethodtoestimatetheflowrateusing■Dischargedatadevelopmentduringdisasterevents.OverviewUnderstandingtheflowrateofriversduringextremeeventsisessentialforpreventingflooddisastersaroundriverbasins.However,severalmountainousriverbasinsinJapandonothaveaconsistenthydrologicalrecordduetotheircomplexenvironmentandremoteness,asdischargemeasurementsarenoteconomicallyfeasible.Ontheotherhand,thereareanumberofavailableseismicstationsinthesemountainousregions.Theycandetectseismicnoiseexcitedbythenearbyriverflowanditisunderstoodthatthenoisepowerhasahighcorrelationwithdischarge.seismicnoisedata.River discharge estimation of mountainous river basins using NIED Hi-net dataStorm, Flood and Landslide Research Division, Shakti P.C.
