The representative of the Ministry of Information and Communication, republic of Korea, visited NIED.
On the 8th of March, 2007, NIED provided lectures and a tour for a totall of fifteen researchers and specialists from Korean government institutions

On the 8th of March, 2007, a total of fifteen researchers and specialists from eight government institutions of Korea visited NIED, the institutions were the Ministry of Information and Communication, National Information Society Agency, Korea Meteorological Administration, the Ministry of Government Administration and Home Affaires, National Emergency Management Agency, Korea Communication Commission, Emergency Planning Commission and Korea Telecommunication Operators Association. The purpose of their visit was to 1) study disaster management policy and 2) study extreme technologies for disaster prevention and the measurement of how to convey warnings of typhoons and earthquakes. After the greeting presentation from the Konaka Executive Director of NIED, two researchers of NIED presented lectures: 1) Dr. Horiuchi, Principle Senior Researcher, Disaster Prevention System Research Center explained the Earthquake Early Warning System, 2) Dr. Maki- Director, Storm, Flood and Landslide Research Department talked about the research of Storm, Floods and Landslides at NIED. The participants were also given a tour of the three main facilities at NIED: the Data Center , the Large-scale Earthquake simulator and the Large-scale Rainfall simulator.
