Organization of National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Resilience: Under the leadership of the President and Executive Vice President, the NIED consists of SIP Program Management Office, Headquarters of Research and Co-Creation Promotion, Department of Catastrophic Geohazard Research, Department of Urban Disaster Resilience Engineering, Department of Extreme Weather Disaster Research, Department of Transdisciplinary Research in Disaster Risk Reduction, Strategic Planning Department, General Affairs Department, Legal Affairs Compliance and Research Integrity Office, and Audit Office.

Revenue for FY2025 is 13.8 billion yen. This includes 10.9 billion yen in operating grants (79% of total), 1.9 billion yen in subsidy income (14% of total), 400 million yen in self-income (5% of total), 700 million yen in entrusted research income (5% of total), and 400 million yen in self-income (3% of total). Expenditures for FY2025 are also estimated at 13.8 billion yen. This includes 10.6 billion yen for operational expenses (77% of the total), 1.9 billion yen (14%) for subsidized projects, 600 million yen (3%) for general and administrative expenses, and 700 million yen (5%) for entrusted research expenses.
