Nineteen Scientists, Engineers, Analysts and Consultants from Asia (Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Thailand) visited NIED.
This tour is a part of the training course which JAXA, SAPC conducted for the period from the 9th of January to the 28th of January.
On the 24th of January, nineteen government staff members from Indonesia , Sri Lanka and Thailand visited NIED.
They are specialists, such as scientists, engineers, analysts and consultants, of remote sensing technology and map information.
They attended the tour at NIED to learn more about the remote sensing technology that NIED is implementing in the volcanic research project.

Dr. Okura, Principal Senior Researcher of the Volcano Research Department, gave a lecture about the remote sensing technology. Also, we took the participants on a tour of the three facilities, which are the Data Center, the Large-scale Earthquake simulator and the Large-scale Rainfall simulator. At the Data Center, Dr. Hirose and Dr. Asano of the Earthquake Research Department explained about the Japan Seismic Networks. At the Large-scale Earthquake simulator, Dr. Minowa, the Principal Senior Researcher at the Disaster Prevention System Research Center, gave a mini-lecture about the facility. At the end of the tour the participants had time to look around the Large-scale Rainfall simulator and ask questions to Dr. Fukuzono, the Principal Senior Researcher of the Storm, Flood and Landslide Research Department.
