NIED signed a Memorandum of Cooperation(MOC) with NGI (Norwegian Geotechnical Institute) on the 3rd of March 2023, to promote research cooperation on natural hazards, including tsunamis, earthquakes, landslides, floods (including river and coastal erosion, inundation), avalanches, and effects of climate change as well as personnel exchange among researchers and students, etc.

The two institutions have long collaborated in research areas on snow-related hazardous events and earthquakes. With the conclusion of this new MOC, the two institutions will cooperate in research on topics in various natural hazards and the effects of climate change that are common to both countries to internationally contribute to disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation.
