Visit by Asian Institute of Management City of Makati Program
On September 19, 11 delegates from the Philippines visited NIED's Tsukuba HQs. As part of the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) training program on Futures Thinking in Strategic Disaster Risk Management and Leadership Program for the Local Government of Makati City, officials of Makati City traveled to Japan to learn how strategic disaster risk management is implemented and initiatives by the NIED.
The delegates first heard a general overview of NIED from Mr. OKABE Takashi, Deputy Director of the International Affairs Division, followed by a short tour to NIED’s facilities where they received a brief explanation of the Giant Rock Friction Apparatus as well as the Large-scale Rainfall Simulator. The delegates asked many questions and showed great interest in the NIED's initiatives towards disaster risk reduction.
