NIED President Meets with Politecnico di Torino Leadership at the Exhibition “AIRONE”
On October 2, 2025, President Professor Kaoru Takara of the National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Resilience (NIED) attended the exhibition “AIRONE – AereI e dRONi: The Future of Sustainable Mobility for Civil Aviation”, held at the Italy Pavilion of Expo 2025 Osaka.
The event also celebrated the launch of the newly established PoliTo Japan Hub, marking an important milestone for future collaboration between Italy and Japan.
During the event, President Takara had a cordial meeting with Professor Stefano Paolo Corgnati, Rector of Politecnico di Torino, and Professor Giuseppe Quaglia, Director of the PoliTo Japan Hub. They exchanged views on future collaboration between NIED and Politecnico di Torino, which has been under discussion since last year. Both sides expressed their intention to further strengthen cooperation in fields such as earthquake engineering, sediment-related disaster research, and other areas of mutual interest.
President Takara and his delegation also had the opportunity to tour the Italy Pavilion, which featured a rich presentation of Italy’s traditional and modern art and culture, in addition to the exhibition’s theme on sustainable mobility.
NIED looks forward to enhancing research collaboration with Politecnico di Torino through the Japan Hub, and to deepening the partnership between Japan and Italy in the field of disaster risk reduction and resilience.
