NIED and NIAR Sign Memorandum of Cooperation
On March 10, 2026, the National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Resilience (NIED) signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) with the National Institutes of Applied Research (NIAR) in Taiwan, to strengthen collaboration in the field of earthquake engineering.
Under this MoC, the Hyogo Earthquake Engineering Research Center (E-Defense) of NIED and the National Center for Research on Earthquake Engineering (NCREE) of NIAR will act as the executing units to promote cooperative activities including joint research and regular joint workshops in earthquake engineering.
On this occasion, a workshop was also held with the participation of E-Defense, NCREE and the Seismic Research and Test Center (SESTEC) of Pusan National University in Korea, which are currently engaged in a joint research agreement. The workshop aimed to strengthen trilateral collaboration among the three institutes and to discuss opportunities for future cooperation in earthquake engineering research.
